The Iomega Prestige uses a USB 2.0 interface for fast data transfers with universal compatibility. The USB 2.0 interface allows for plug-and-play simplicity with a data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. Additionally, the drive is already preformatted NTFS, so you don't have to waste time formatting to use it.
The Prestige features a drive with 7200 RPM spindle speed and an 8MB or higher cache buffer. This provides performance that results in fast access speeds and low latency.
And with 1TB of storage capacity, the Prestige gives you the ability to store up to 4 million photos, over 18,500 hours of music, or 1,500 hours of video.
Stylish Aluminum Case
The Prestige has durable aluminum construction with a brushed-metal finish that will stylishly complement your desktop or workstation. An included stand gives you the option of either placing the drive horizontally or vertically.

Summary - Great device, easy to use, good value for price.
The product was delivered in the time frame promised and was ready to use right out of the box. Nothing else to buy. For the price it is a great way to back-up your entire HDD and then remove the device to an off-site location and use a similar device for the next back-up.
Rotating the devices can help ensure you have the back-up you need when you want it. You no longer have to figure out when the file might have been corrupted. Just open th most recent directly from this device and if runs, you've got the one you want. If not, go back to the next most current back-up. Repeat this process until you get to athe file that is not corrupted. Just start at the most recent back-up.
IMPORTANT
Create a folder for backups on this drive and then provide a new folder with the NAME being the date of the back-up. This prevents overwriting previous back-ups. If you get to the point where the drive will not hold anymore back-ups you have a couple of choices.
1. Purchase another device and move it into the "rotation"
2. Delete back-ups with older dates - but before you do this make sure the current back-up works and is not corrupted.
A little planning and work and you have a great back-up plan that does not relay on moving your data online to any third party site and the inherent issues of security and restore-ability.
Of course this process will work with other External Hard Disk Drives.
