I have owned the seagate expansions 500 for just over a week and it has been a revelation.I have very little technical computer knowledge and was very apprehensive before committing to purchasing an external harddrive due to my concerns about the set up and installation i would need to understand but my fears were soon unfounded.
I have dozens of films and hours of music on my computer harddrive which only has 138GB of space so i was forever having to delete precious files which i preferred to keep on my computer in order to create room for my new films, so i was looking for an external harddrive which was cheap and simple to use and had plenty of space;the seagate 500 does not disappoint!
Firstly it is very simple to set up,just plug into the mains and connect the usb,once your computer has started up it configures the seagate into your computer and all you have to do is re-start and you are ready to go,its that simple!
Any files you wish to transfer over simply right click on the particular file and point the cursor onto 'send to' then click on expansion drive and the files are quickly transferred over,it may take 2 to 4 minutes for anything over 1 GB in size.You can the delete the original file from your harddrive and free up more space safe in the knowledge that your file is safely stored on the seagate.
I would point out that it has 465GB and not the 500 i was expecting but 35GB isnt really an issue when you have so much extra space the seagate 500 gives you.
I would recommend the seagate to anyone needing more space on their computer, it is very easy to use,very unobtrusive and quiet and great value for money.
